JCPD: No one in custody after weekend shots fired incident
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Police say no one is in custody after shots were fired in a Jefferson City neighborhood early Saturday.
Police were called to the 1600 block of St. Mary's Boulevard just before 4:30 a.m. Saturday for a shots fired incident.
Lt. David Williams of the Jefferson City Police Department said no injuries were reported but property was damaged.
Surveillance footage from Saturday morning obtained by ABC 17 News shows a person running and holding a gun and yelling, "Hey boy ... Get over here!"
Williams said the department has viewed the security footage. He said this is still an active investigation and officers are continuing to search for anyone involved.
"We don't want cases to go unsolved, because we want people to be held responsible for the things they do," Willams said.
JCPD does not believe this was a random act, but Williams said incidents like this are always a threat to the public.
"We don't know what caused this situation to occur," Williams said. "There was gunfire, there was some property damage, so there were some homes that we struck by gunfire so yeas it's a hazard to the innocent public"
Williams asks anyone with information about the incident to contact the department.
