Tracking showers tomorrow, rounds of strong storms Friday through the weekend

TONIGHT: Increasing clouds with lows in the upper 40s.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy with showers moving in by late afternoon. A few thunderstorms possible. Highs in the mid-60s.

EXTENDED: Low pressure tracking across the Plains will bring our first of many rounds of rain and storms by Thursday. Showers will have to fight dry air, so we likely won't see much rain until late in the day into Thursday night, with storms continuing to filter in with a warm front on Friday morning. The morning will likely be noisy with possible small hail, but Friday morning's severe threat will be low. Friday afternoon could see a renewed round of potential severe weather ahead of a cold front through Friday night. Hail and damaging winds are possible with those storms. Most of Saturday is looking dry and hot as highs get into the low 80s. Storms developing across the Plains during the day will move in our direction by Saturday night, bringing the threat of damaging winds and heavy rain late into Sunday morning. 1-3" of rain will be possible with that round. Depending on how long morning rain sticks around, we could see a second round of scattered severe storms on Sunday afternoon along a cold front that moves in from the west. Large hail, damaging winds, and a tornado or two would be possible with that round if storms develop. Weekend rain totals will be in the 2-4" range with the highest amounts along and north of I-70. Next week starts off a bit cooler as showers exit on Monday, with highs in the lower 70s.
