Tracking light rain tomorrow, storms late week

TONIGHT: Increasing clouds and mild with lows in the lower 50s.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy with light showers through late afternoon. Highs in the upper 60s.

EXTENDED: Tonight will be about 15 degrees warmer as temperatures remain in the low 50s thanks to cloud cover and a strong southerly breeze. Tomorrow morning will start off cloudy, but we could also see showers trying to slide in from the north along a cold front. Light rain will be possible around midday for Columbia and Jefferson City, with showers exiting Mid-Missouri by late afternoon. Wednesday and Thursday are looking dry in the upper 60s to around 70 before a warm front slides in from the southwest, lifting north across Mid-MO and bringing rain Thursday night into Friday. How long rain lingers on Friday morning could determine what's in store for the afternoon or evening. The environment will become more favorable for severe storms by late afternoon or evening if the atmosphere can recover from the morning round. Storms exit late Friday night, leaving us with drier weather on Saturday. However, as upper high pressure briefly builds, it will be hot on Saturday as highs reach the mid-80s. The conditions are looking favorable for another round of storms possibly late Saturday night into Sunday morning, and potentially more late in the day on Sunday or Sunday night ahead of a cold front. The bottom line is that we will be expecting multiple rounds of storms, with a heavy dose of rain over those few days. Rain totals will likely add up to 2-4", with the highest totals looking to set up across northwest Missouri.
