State Fire Marshal investigating Camden County church fire
CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Missouri State Fire Marshal is investigating what caused a Camden County church fire.
The Camden County sheriff and chief deputy called 911 after spotting heavy smoke coming from the First Assembly of God Church on South Business Route 5 just before 2 p.m. Friday.
According to a Facebook post by the Mid-County Fire Protection District, firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the building.
Firefighters got the fire under control in about 20 minutes, officials said.
The downstairs and upstairs lobby area had fire and water damage and the sanctuary had some and water damage, according to the post.
Other agencies helped at the scene, including the Osage Beach Fire Protection District, Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District, Camden County Ambulance District, Camden County Sheriff's Office and Lacelede Electric.
Fire officials said Lake Ozark Fire Protection District also helped cover any additional emergency calls for the Mid-County Fire Protection District.
According to the Facebook post, investigators do not believe the fire is suspicious.
Crews cleared the scene around 4:30 p.m.
