Southwest Camden County firefighters respond to arson on roads
CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Southwest Camden County Fire Protection District wrote on its social media that it responded to an arson attempt after fires were set to roads in the area on Thursday.
In a second post on social media at 5:54 p.m. Thursday night, the district wrote that it responded to nine fires that threatened buildings and several acres of lane. The district wrote the fires were intentionally set.
“We responded at 1353 for report of a natural cover fire in the area of Chapel Bluff road and Mud Hole Rd. Once in the area we encountered multiple road sets on O road and the surrounding area of Mud Hole Road and O road” the post reads. “There were multiple reports of 9 fires with multiple acres and multiple structures in danger. These fires were set intentionally as they are right by the side of the road. Working with the Camden County Sheriff’s office we were able to investigate some leads to potential suspects. At this time it is still ongoing. Because they are road sets they are difficult to investigate, find, and a prosecute a suspect unless they are caught in the act.”
The department wrote at 7:02 p.m. that it was responding to another “natural cover fire.”
