Tracking a hard freeze, more sunshine tomorrow afternoon
TONIGHT: Clouds clearing and cold with lows in the upper 20s. Cover or bring in any sensitive plants that have bloomed.
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and chilly with highs in the lower 50s.
EXTENDED: Clouds gradually clear as skies clear out overnight underneath high pressure. We'll drop into the upper 20s, allowing frost to develop where winds can die down enough. Tomorrow is about 10-15 degrees warmer, with highs in the lower 50s and more sunshine. As low pressure slowly drifts south, we'll see a southwesterly wind shift and temperatures rising back into the low to mid-60s by Thursday afternoon. Friday will bring even warmer temperatures and a few more clouds as we reach the lower 70s. A disturbance could bring a few showers likely after midnight Friday, but we'll see a dry and mild start to the weekend. Temperatures on Saturday reach the lower 70s, but as a cold front sags in from the north, we could see more clouds. A few showers or storms are possible on Saturday night into Sunday, but warmer lower levels of the atmosphere could also stifle widespread storm development. However, the front begins to lift back north on Monday, making it warmer and a bit more humid, increasing the instability across Mid-Missouri. That could spell the chance for at least a few severe storms as moisture streams in with stronger southwest winds and highs in the upper 70s.
