Tracking the end of rain ahead of a cool weekend

TODAY: Friday will be increasingly cool, as we find ourselves on the north side of passing low pressure. We'll start in the 50s, and end the day in the 40s around the dinner hour. Spotty showers will continue of and on through the morning, with drier weather expected in the afternoon. Some spotty showers may linger into the afternoon. Another quarter to half inch of rain is possible, especially southeast of Columbia.

TONIGHT: We'll dry up for the dinner hour, with temperatures falling into the 30s overnight.

EXTENDED: Starting near freezing, Saturday will be chilly. Highs are slightly cooler than average, in the upper 40s with mostly sunny skies forecast. Sunshine is abundant Sunday and Monday, helping warm temperatures into the 50s and 60s. Clouds return Tuesday, ahead of a chance for rain that night into Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures reach into the 70s with this round of rain.
