Tracking widespread soaking rain Thursday and Friday

TODAY: Rain moves in Thursday, and will stay through Friday, at least on an off and on basis. Showers and thunderstorms will move in before sunrise. This activity will by isolated to scattered, and overspread the region through the early morning. This activity will be followed by a wider band of precipitation as the warm front nears. This wider band will bring a more widespread and steady rainfall by late morning and linger into the overnight hours. This is the round that brings most of our rainfall. Temperatures are stuck in the mid-to-upper 50s.

TONIGHT: Rain continues past midnight before letting up. A brief break in precipitation comes around sunrise or just after from southwest to northeast. Temperatures only fall into the low 50s overnight.

EXTEDNED: Expect temperatures to warm to near 60 through the morning, in the warm sector of this system, where we get a relative break in rainfall. Rain returns along the cold front by late morning to near noon. This is where we will get frontal thunderstorms. Not everyone may see these, depending on timing and placement of the front. Chances for good rain along this front will be southeast of Jefferson City. Rain comes to an end overnight into Saturday morning as the cold front leaves. Rain totals from the system as a whole, are likely to range from 1-2 inches. Temperatures will fall into the 30s early Saturday, and climb into the upper 40s on Saturday. We'll stay dry over the weekend, with abundant sunshine pulling us into the upper 50s on Sunday. We start another warm up into the 60s and 70s ahead of our next rain chance on Wednesday.
