Tracking near record highs followed by bitter cold and light snow overnight

THIS AFTERNOON: Gusty winds with clouds filtering in. Highs reach the upper 70s to low 80s before the cold front arrives.

TONIGHT: Strong winds pull in much colder air as temperatures dip to near freezing before midnight. Snow showers move in by around 10:00 p.m. and exit a few hours later. Less than 1" of accumulation is expected on grassy surfaces. Lows fall into the lower 20s with wind chills around 10 degrees.

EXTENDED: A strong cold front moves into the Midwest tonight, bringing temperatures down to the freezing mark before midnight. Snow showers move in behind the front, leaving a dusting to a half inch of accumulation on the grass. No road impacts are expected, but frigid temperatures will take hold by morning as lows fall into the low to mid-20s. Wind chills will drop to around 8 to 10 degrees above zero, with sunshine and highs in the upper 30s. We gradually warm back up on Thursday after a cold morning, with afternoon temperatures in the lower 50s. A disturbance sliding by to our south on Thursday night could bring a few showers, but rain will likely exit by sunrise on Friday. Highs reach the lower 60s to end the week. The weekend is looking breezy and beautiful with highs in the low to mid-70s on Saturday and Sunday.
