Columbia standoff ends in suicide
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Columbia Police Department says a Monday night standoff at a mobile home park ended with the suspect's suicide.
Officers were sent around 8:20 p.m. to the 3900 block of Clark Lane and found a man standing in a doorway who then got a gun and pointed it at officers, according to a CPD news release. The man, later identified as Robert E. Lee, 55, barricaded himself inside a residence after a woman got out, police say.
CPD said that the call came in as a domestic disturbance with a weapon.
SWAT officers, crisis negotiators and paramedics were brought in, as well. ABC 17 News saw police concentrating on a lot in the Pine Village mobile home park.
Officers heard a gunshot at about 11 p.m. and found the man dead from a self-inflicted bullet wound. Police said Wednesday that they've notified the next of kin.
