Man charged with murder in 2022 McKee Street shooting that killed girl

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Another man has been accused and charged of murder in relation to a February 2022 shooting on McKee Street that killed a girl.

Daniel Ayers, 21, of Fulton, was indicted by a grand jury on Friday in Boone County. He was charged with second-degree murder, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of armed criminal action.

Polcie were called to the 1800 block of McKee Street on Feb. 19, 2022. Fifteen-year-old Aubry Doxley was killed in the shooting.

Ayers is in the Missouri Department of Corrections. He pleaded guilty in 2021 to second-degree burglary, resisting arrest and tampering with an electronic monitoring device. He was sentenced to seven years in prison.

Ayers was incarcerated from July 21. 2021-Jan. 7, 2022 and has been in the Department of Corrections since Feb. 25, 2022, according to an email from DOC spokesperson Karen Pojman.

An arraignment is set for 9 a.m. Friday, April 19 at the Boone County Courthouse.

A number of other people have been charged in relation to this shooting.

Tavan Eric Williams-Patrick, Oscar Ashford and Samarion Robins were all charged with second-degree murder, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of armed criminal action.

Williams-Patrick, 18,. Is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond and has a hearing set for 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 18. Ashford, 19, is being held at the Boone County Jail on a $1 million bond and has a hearing set for 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 18. Robbins has a hearing scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26.

According to reporting from 2022, Doxley's mother, Latoya, said Aubry was lying in her bed when the shots came through the window and killed her.
