Tracking snow starting tomorrow morning, cold start to the weekend

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with spotty rain and sleet developing late. Lows near 30.

TOMORROW: Snow showers move in from north to south early, with gusty winds up to 25 mph. 1-3" of snowfall accumulation possible with the higher range north of I-70.

EXTENDED: A Weather Alert Day has been issued for the potential of accumulating snow and a brief period of sleet starting early Friday morning through late afternoon. Areas along and south of I-70 have the best shot at seeing some light sleet in the morning, while points north will experience higher snowfall rates of 1/2" to 1" per hour early in the day. We are expecting a total of 1-3" of snow along and north of the I-70 corridor, with a dusting to 1" possible for those  along and south of the Missouri River. Road conditions could be poor early in the day for the northern half of the area as snowfall rates could overcome warm ground temperatures that we've had the last several days. Expect slushy conditions through the afternoon, and things could be slick if left untreated through Friday night as temperatures dip into the upper teens to around 20. Saturday afternoon will be chilly and breezy as highs reach the upper 30s, but wind chills remain in the upper 20s to near the freezing mark. Spring like temperatures return to Mid-Missouri by Sunday as highs get back into the lower 50s. We'll remain above average into next week as highs get into the mid-50s on Monday and 60s by Tuesday.
