Tracking a cool down and a chance of snow by the end of the week
TONIGHT: Increasing clouds with a chance for a few showers. Lows in the lower to mid-40s.
TOMORROW: Partly cloudy and cooler with highs near 50.
EXTENDED: We're tracking a cold front that moves in tonight and brings more clouds along with a chance of showers. Any rain would be brief and gone before daybreak. Cloud cover keeps temperatures in the mid-40s tonight, but we'll be cooler tomorrow as temperatures struggle to get past 50. A low pressure system approaches Thursday night into Friday, bringing precipitation from north to south starting early and ending by mid-afternoon. Snow showers are likely north of I-70, with a dusting to 1" possible, and isolated 2" amounts centered from about Moberly back east toward Vandalia. With ground temperatures being as warm as they have been, we are not concerned about crippling impacts, but roads in these areas could be slushy for the morning commute. Farther south, temperatures warm into the upper 30s and a few showers will be possible. It's colder behind this system as lows fall into the upper teens to around 20 by Saturday morning. Saturday is breezy and chilly as temperatures reach the upper 30s, but we'll warm right back up into the 50s by Sunday with spring like temperatures into next week.
