Tracking a cloudy weekend with warmer temperatures next week

TODAY: Afternoon highs climb into the lower 40s with overcast skies.

TONIGHT: Clouds hold overnight, and more fog is possible overnight into Saturday, but to a lesser degree than Friday. Lows cool to the mid to upper 30s.

EXTENDED: Clouds remain for Saturday, with a chance for showers. Rain chances are best south and east of Columbia. Expect cooler air over the weekend, with high temperatures just touching 40 both Saturday and Sunday. Rain clears for Sunday, but we'll be mostly cloudy before sunshine returns on Monday. Sunshine and southerly flow help get temperatures to warm quickly to near 50 on Monday. Our overall patter supports warmer temperatures and sunshine next week, with highs forecast in the low 50s through Thursday of next week, and upper 50s, if not 60s, possible by next weekend.
