Tracking more snow and extreme cold to wrap up the week
TODAY: Temperatures plummet this afternoon down to the teens by sundown. This will be ushered in via winds that may gust as high as 30-40 mph. Roads will quickly become treacherous as slick spots develop. For details on snow, read our ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day Blog.
TONIGHT: Dangerous cold hits quick as temperatures fall into the single digits overnight, with wind chills as low as 5-10 BELOW ZERO.
EXTENDED: The cold gets worse over the weekend, with temperatures on Saturday afternoon near 10 degrees at best, and winds around 10-20 mph gusting at times to 30 mph. This will continue into Saturday night, where wind and cold could produce wind chill values in the 20-30 below range, prompting a Wind Chill Warning from the National Weather Service through noon on Sunday. Sunday will be about the coldest day, with highs forecast in the single digits. A round of snow will visit the region, but likely pass south of most of mid-Missouri, limiting accumulations to less than an inch for most. Cold lingers through Wednesday morning, where we could see a brief return to the 20s or 30s for highs.
