Tracking the back edge of snow, gusty winds with slick spots possible overnight

TONIGHT: Snow exits early, but gusty winds up to 35 mph could blow snow over roads. Lows in the upper teens. Slick spots on untreated roads will be possible into the morning.

TOMORROW: Gradual clearing with lighter winds. Highs in the upper 30s.

EXTENDED: Snow showers continue to press east this afternoon as low pressure moves into the Great Lakes. We'll see the back edge of snow exiting Mid-Missouri between 6-8:00 p.m., but strong westerly winds could gust up to 35 mph, blowing snow around on roads. There could be slick spots in the morning as temperatures drop into the upper teens. Wednesday will bring gradual clearing as highs get back into the upper 30s. Thursday starts off dry, and we'll make it to the upper 30s before our next low pressure system enters the region, bringing a shot at rain and snow. Areas north of I-70 will have the best chance of seeing at least light accumulation by Friday, with snow showers pushing east on Friday afternoon. Behind that system, dangerously cold air settles in for the weekend and beyond. A Weather Alert Day will likely be issued for Saturday and Sunday, and likely extend into next week as low temperatures fall into the upper single digits Friday night, then below zero by Sunday night. Wind chills look to be below zero in the morning from Saturday through Wednesday of next week. There could be another fast-moving clipper system that brings light snow on Sunday, but accumulation chances look limited due to the speed at this time.
