Teacher accused of statutory rape in Pulaski County arrested in Texas
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Pulaski County teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a student was arrested last week in Texas, according to authorities there.
Hailey Clifton-Carmack, 26, was arrested Friday in Garden Ridge, Texas, Garden Ridge police wrote in a social media post. Police say she was arrested without incident but didn't give any other details.
Clifton-Carmack, formerly a teacher at Laquey High School, was charged with first-degree child endangerment, second-degree statutory rape, sexual contact with a student and fourth-degree child molestation. A warrant was issued for her arrest Thursday and a $250,000 bond was set, according to court records.
The father of the victim was also charged Thursday with first-degree child endangerment. A warrant was issued for the man’s arrest and a $50,000 bond was set. ABC 17 News is not naming the father to protect the identity of the victim.
According to court documents, a Laquey school resource officer contacted the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office about a student who reported a sexual relationship between a teacher and a student.
The witness told law enforcement that they learned about Clifton-Carmack having sex with a student after the victim showed the witness photographs of scratches and the witness heard a phone call between the two, according to the probable cause statement.
No hearings had been scheduled as of Tuesday morning, according to online court records.
