Tracking heavy rain and snow moving in by tomorrow afternoon
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with lows in the upper 20s to around 30.
TOMORROW: Cloudy, with highs reaching the lower 40s early in the day. Rain moves in by midday and could be heavy at times. Rain changes to snow by late afternoon into the evening. Snow accumulation is possible through late evening, with the higher amounts north of Highway 24.
EXTENDED: A Weather Alert Day is in effect for the potential of blowing, accumulating snow between Monday night and Tuesday night. Precipitation starts off as heavy rain on Monday afternoon and will gradually transition to snow with high precipitation rates through evening. As low pressure tracks across southern Missouri, we could see a break or light rain, with some snow continuing up toward Highway 36 overnight. Precipitation wraps around the back side of low pressure again on Tuesday morning, bringing continued light snowfall through much of Tuesday for most of Mid-Missouri. Winds could gust up to 30 mph throughout the duration of the event, lowering visibility. Blowing snow is possible on Tuesday night before winds die down. Low temperatures on Tuesday night drop into the lower 20s, so snow covered areas will likely still be slick on Wednesday morning. Wednesday and Thursday are dry but chilly with highs in the 30s. Another storm system slides by to our south on Friday, bringing the potential for more wintry weather in the form of snow between Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Lows fall into the upper single digits to around 10 degrees on Saturday and Sunday mornings, with cooler than average temperatures possible into early the following week.
