Tracking light rain and snow mix tonight into early Saturday

TONIGHT: Light snow showers, mixing with rain at times. Accumulation will be limited to grassy surfaces overnight. Lows in the lower 30s.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy with spotty rain or snow showers and highs in the upper 30s to around 40.

EXTENDED: Light precipitation moves out with a cold front tomorrow afternoon into the evening, leaving us with cloudy skies overnight. Sunday is seasonably cool in the low 40s. Our next strong storm system is moving off the Alaskan coast and will work its way into the Plains this weekend. We can expect precipitation to start Monday afternoon as rain, then gradually work east and transition to snow by late Monday afternoon or evening. There will be a rain/snow line across southern Missouri on Monday into Tuesday, with still a little uncertainty on the exact track of the low. The track will determine zones of higher snowfall accumulation, with the most favored area for higher totals along and north of I-70 at this time. Keep in mind snow ranges will likely shift a bit over the weekend as the system gets closer and gets sampled by more weather stations along the way. Road impacts are likely between Monday night and much of Tuesday, with snow covered roads and gusty winds up to 35 mph. Snow comes to an end west to east on Tuesday evening, leaving us cold and breezy for Tuesday night. There could be some snow-packed roads that cause dangerous driving conditions into Wednesday, but we can expect dry skies through Wednesday and much of Thursday.
