Tracking a mix of rain and snow by Friday
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy and cold with lows in the lower 20s.
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and chilly with highs in the upper 30s.
EXTENDED: Clouds exit tonight as a cold front works its way across the region, allowing temperatures to drop into the lower 20s by daybreak. We can expect more sunshine tomorrow, but it will be chillier with highs in the upper 30s. Another low pressure system moves to our south on Friday, bringing a chance of a wintry mix to Mid-Missouri. Precipitation type will vary based on the temperatures during the day, but will likely start off as rain on Friday afternoon and change over to a rain/snow mix by Friday night. Light rain or snow showers could continue into early Saturday with morning temperatures around 30 degrees, but should taper off by afternoon. Little to no accumulation is expected and roads will likely not be impacted. Sunday is dry and cloudy ahead of a much stronger low pressure system that will be pushing out of the southwest across the Plains on Monday. That will likely bring major impacts to parts of the Midwest in the way of strong winds, rain, and snow between Monday and Tuesday. Confidence is low in the low pressure system's exact track, which will play a big role in determining precipitation type and impacts to follow in Mid-Missouri. Rain is likely, but some precipitation could change to snow at least by Tuesday. Impacts to road conditions are expected, but exactly where is yet to be determined.
