Tracking scattered flurries tonight, cold New Year’s Eve

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy with flurries possible. Lows in the mid-upper 20s.

TOMORROW: Partly cloudy and chilly with a northwest breeze and highs in the mid-30s.

EXTENDED: Saturday has been warmer as high pressure briefly settled over the region, but an Alberta clipper low pressure system will slide in from the northwest tonight into tomorrow and drag a cold front across Mid-Missouri. Not much moisture is associated with this system, but enough to bring more clouds and flurries overnight. We're cooler in the wake of this system as highs only reach the mid-upper 30s for New Year's Eve. We can expect patchy clouds and flurries into tomorrow night, with wind chills in the lower 20s by evening. Next week starts off chilly with arctic high pressure building in and keeping temperatures below average on Monday, but the rest of the week looks quiet with near average highs in the lower 40s. The next chance at precipitation holds off until Friday or Saturday.
