Tracking a cold New Year’s Eve weekend

TONIGHT: Clouds decrease and temperatures drop into the mid-20s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and warmer with highs in the mid-40s.

EXTENDED: Clouds slowly decrease tonight as low pressure that brought rounds of snow to the Midwest exits to the east. Lows tonight dip into the mid-upper 20s as northwest winds prevail. Tomorrow will bring more sunshine and warmer temperatures in the 40s ahead of a cold front that will drop in from the north on Sunday. Sunday will feature more clouds for the last day of 2023, with highs in the mid-30s. The cool air sticks around into New Year's Day with more sunshine and highs in the mid-30s. Upper high pressure sticks around for Tuesday and Wednesday with temperatures staying near the seasonal average in the low 40s during the day. A few disturbances could work through during the week, bringing cloudiness at times but limited precipitation.
