A Holts Summit man was charged with four felonies after he allegedly threatened to burn down a home and tried to hit a woman with his Jeep.

Keith Findley, 58, was charged with first-degree harassment, first-degree domestic assault, armed criminal action and resisting arrest. He is being held at the Callaway County Jail without bond. A bond hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Callaway County Courthouse.

According to the probable cause statement, Callaway County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a residence in Holts Summit around 5:20 a.m. Saturday. The victim had told Callaway County Joint Communications that a man had a gun and was threatening to burn their house down, the probable cause statement says.

The statement says the victim told dispatchers that Findley said if law enforcement was called, “she better bring the cops and they better have their vests on.”

The statement says the victim is Findley’s wife of 34 years. Deputies arrived to the residence and Findley was not compliant with law enforcement’s orders, according to the statement. Deputies allegedly had to force Findley to get on the ground and had to force him his arms behind his back, court documents state.

The victim had allegedly told law enforcement that Findley had been drinking excessively for about four months and that he became angry, when intoxicated, the statement says.

The woman had allegedly told deputies that she was sleeping in her bed when Findley woke her up and threatened to set the bed on fire with her in it, and then also burn the house down, the statement says. Findley had allegedly grabbed a sheet and held a lighter.

Law enforcement then allegedly saw text messages sent by Findley the previous night that showed threats of burning down the house, the statement says.

Findley then allegedly threatened to ram his Jeep into the victim’s vehicle. The woman stood by her vehicle so Findley would not damage it and then told law enforcement that Findley drove towards her in his Jeep, the probable cause statement says. The deputy saw “disturbed gravel” that was “consistent with the sudden braking of an accelerating vehicle,” according to the statement.
