Tracking an overnight rain and snow mixture with more precipitation throughout the week
TODAY: Expect temperatures to only reach low 40s, by the afternoon, keeping us feeling about as cool compared to late day Christmas. A breeze has us feeling like 30s through the afternoon. Skies will likely see clouds, but not likely overcast, allowing some sunshine to the ground as thicker clouds lift northward.
TONIGHT: Rain chances work in tonight, after the dinner hour. This cold light rain will gradually begin to mix with snow overnight, as temperatures through the atmosphere cool. Air temperatures at the surface will cool to freezing at the coldest overnight, with ground temperatures well warmer. For this reason, only expect to see elevated or grass accumulations up to 1" by morning, where this snow is still falling with wet roadways.
EXTENDED: Snow switches back over to rain late Wednesday morning melting any accumulating snow on elevated or grassy surfaces from the early morning hours. Highs rise into the upper 30s. O the back side of the rain Wednesday night, rain may switch back over to flurries once again to light snow. No accumulation is expected with this second switch. Thursday night into Friday morning sees another opportunity for snowfall once again lasting into Friday morning. This upcoming weekend remains dry and mostly sunny leading into New Year's Eve.
