Braggin’ Rights rivalry receives six-year extension
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Braggin' Rights series will continue for another six years. Mizzou and Illinois Athletics announced on Friday afternoon that the annual rivalry game is being extended through 2029 and will continue to be played at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis.
“The Braggin’ Rights Game is a staple on Mizzou’s calendar every season and a historic rivalry that matters to our fans,” Mizzou Athletic Director Desiree Reed-Francois said in a press release. “We embrace our opportunities to hold events in St. Louis. That’s why it’s important to extend the series with Illinois at Enterprise Center, so our fans can continue to enjoy one of the most electric atmospheres in all of college basketball.”
The first Braggin' Rights game was played in the Gateway City in 1980, and since then, Mizzou and Illinois have faced each other 42 of the last 43 years. The only Braggin' Rights game to not be played in St. Louis was held in Columba in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mizzou and Illinois will renew the Braggin' Rights rivalry game on Friday, Dec. 22 at 8 p.m. in St. Louis.
