University of Missouri wraps up winter commencement ceremonies, statistics through the years

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

As the University of Missouri wrapped up a weekend of winter commencement ceremonies, ABC 17 News is digging into the numbers of graduates and degrees administered in years past and this year.

For 2023 alone, 1,780 UM students will have graduated this weekend with over 1,900 degrees ranging from bachelor's, master's, doctorate, education specialists and first professional degrees.

432 online students will also be graduating.

However, this isn't the most degrees the university has awarded since 2020.

2022 had the most winter graduates with 1,973 students earning over 2,128 degrees and 2020 was a close second with 1,934 graduates receiving 2,113 degrees.

Winter graduate numbers dropped by almost 200 students in 2021 and 2023. In 2021, 1,767 students graduated with 1,928 degrees.

From 2020 to 2023, over 1400 bachelor's and 400 plus master's degrees have been earned with each winter commencement ceremony. An average of 124 doctorates and 17 education specialist degrees are also awarded.

Commencement ceremonies finished up Sunday at 10 a.m. with the Navy ROTC and Army ROTC ceremonies.
