Tracking some rumbles of thunder heading into the weekend

TODAY: Temperatures will still be warm Friday but only reach the upper 50s as clouds put the brakes on our warmup. Rain returns to the forecast this afternoon, but will be isolated and light for most of the daytime. More heavy showers move in after sundown with a few rumbles of thunder possible. This will be quick to exit as rain heads east overnight. Some parts of Mid-MO could pick up near an inch of rain from the heaviest storms; the best chance for these higher totals is currently north of a line from Sedalia to Mexico.

TOMORROW: Skies will likely be clear of all rain by sunrise on Saturday but chillier conditions will settle in fast. Temperatures drop back to seasonal levels in the 30s and 40s through the day.

EXTENDED: More sunshine returns on Sunday, but a deep cool down under clear skies Sunday morning sets our morning temperatures into the 20s, keeping highs near 40. We're more mild next week, with dry weather and highs expected in the mid-40s.
