Fulton man charged after allegedly drugging his wife
FULTON, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Fulton man was charged with several felonies on Friday after he allegedly admitted to drugging his wife.
Kevin Bentley, 57, was charged with first-degree domestic assault, stealing, delivery of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, drug possession and misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the probable cause statement, a Callaway County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence after a woman was reported to have been drugged by Bentley.
Bentley allegedly admitted to putting hydrocodone into his wife’s drink the night before, the statement says. The woman appeared to be under the influence and was brought to Boone Hospital for treatment, according to the statement.
A witness later spoke with the deputy and allegedly said Bentley called her to say he put hydrocodone into his wife’s coffee, and that the hydrocodone was previously in a pill bottle where he stored methamphetamine. A toxicology report allegedly stated that the woman had tested positive for methamphetamine, the statement says.
Law enforcement spoke with the victim after she was released from the hospital, where she was told she would feel the effects from the meth for about three days after having her system flushed with an IV, the statement says.
Bentley was arrested at his residence and was booked into the Callaway County Jail at 1:49 a.m. Friday. Bentley allegedly still had the hydrocodone pills “for evidence,” the statement says.
The probable cause statement says Bentley told law enforcement that he crushed the pills in an old pill container and placed the drug into the victim’s coffee at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29.
He allegedly told deputies that he last used meth on Nov. 13 and that “there was only dust” left in the pill container. He then allegedly changed his statement to “I didn’t get a good look at it” and that there could have been meth leftover, according to the statement.
Bentley allegedly told deputies that he spiked his wife’s drink to “make her stay awake” so she would talk with him, the statement says. He then allegedly told deputies he threw out the coffee cup and pill bottle at Moser’s in Fulton to “clean out his truck.”
Bentley allegedly said “I’m a monster,” “I know what I did was wrong,” “I shouldn’t have done it,” “I’m going t prison,” and “I tried to kill her,” according to the statement. Deputies also found meth in his truck.
Bentley allegedly told deputies multiple times that he was “great friends” with Gov. Mike Parson and that “he has connections,” the statement says.
