WEATHER ALERT DAY: Two rounds of wintry weather through Thursday
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy and cold with rain showers. Freezing drizzle and/or light snowfall possible for areas along and north of Highway 24. Lows near 33.
WEDNESDAY: Rain likely, eventually changing to a wintry mix. Highs in the upper 30s.
EXTENDED: As cold air wraps around the back side of low pressure, temperatures drop below freezing for all of Mid-Missouri after midnight Wednesday night. Leftover precipitation will fall as snow showers through early Thursday for much of the area. Accumulation for the northern third of the state will range between 2-3", with a dusting to 1" for much of Mid-Missouri. Road impacts will be minimal Thursday morning, unless we get a brief period of sleet which could cool down road temperatures and in turn allow snow to stick to road surfaces a bit longer. By late Thursday afternoon, snow will exit and we'll be left blustery and bitterly cold with temperatures in the 30s and wind chills in the teens and low 20s for Halloween night. We rebound a bit back into the 50s by the end of the weekend, and stay dry through early next week.
