Missouri sees over $100 million in marijuana sales in October
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Missouri has made about $1.8 billion from marijuana sales since the adult-use was legalized.
The Department of Health and Senior Services released the latest sales numbers, showing $95.5 million was made in adult sales in October, along with $17.6 million in medical sales. This makes a total of $113.1 million in October.
These are slightly lower sales than September.
Recreational marijuana sales started on Feb. 3. That first weekend, sales were over $8 million on just recreational marijuana.
The state collects a 6% sales tax on recreational marijuana and 4% on medical. Most of the taxes collected go to veterans' services. Some of the recreational sales tax goes toward expungement expenses.
After voters passed Amendment Three last November, adults over 21 could possess 3 ounces of marijuana without a medical license.
