An Auxvasse man was charged with two counts of illegal gun possession after he allegedly shot and killed a dog on Saturday.

Johnny Laxson, 53, was booked into the Callaway County Jail on Saturday evening and bonded out the next day, according to online jail records. A warrant was issued on Monday.

According to the probable cause statement, a woman allegedly told deputies that she believe Laxson shot the dog because he allegedly made threats to shoot the dog in the past. The dog allegedly had an entry-and-exit wound from a bullet.

Deputies spoke with Laxson at his residence, who consented to law enforcement searching his residence. Deputies allegedly found ammunition and multiple guns. The statement says Laxson has previously pleaded guilty to felony charges and is not allowed to have a gun.
