Facility review to be conducted for USPS Columbia Processing and Distribution Center

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The United States Postal Service is conducting a mail processing and facility review of the Columbia Processing and Distribution Center, according to a Monday press release.

According to the release, initial results from the review support the facility to remain open and become “modernized” as a Local Processing Center.

The release states the Columbia LPC will be a “critical node.” The review was initiated to evaluate moving some operations to the St. Louis Processing and Distribution Center. Initial results from the review, according to the release,

The release states that USPS is looking to “modernize” its postal network and is aiming to hit 95% on-time delivery nationwide.

A public meeting will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16 at the Cedar Creek Resort and RV Park on Pinetree Drive, according to the release. The release states results from a study will be shown and a summary will be posted to the post office’s website a week before the public input meeting. A survey to give comments is available online through Dec. 1, according to the release.
