Teenager dies in Phelps County crash

ST. JAMES, Mo. (KMIZ)

A 17-year-old boy from St. James died Friday in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 68, just west of Highway 8 in Phelps County, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The teenager’s name was not released in the report.

The crash occurred as the teenager was attempting to negotiate a curve while heading westbound in his 1999 Dodge Ram. The truck then began to skid, according to the report. The driver then overcorrected, the truck went off the left side of the road and overturned.

The report states the driver was partially ejected and the truck stopped in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, according to the report. He was brought to Jones Funeral Home in St. James by the Phelps County coroner, according to the report.

The report states he was not wearing a seatbelt.
