Four hurt when SUV hits tractor-trailer in Randolph County

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two people from Moberly suffered serious injuries when they rear-ended a tractor-trailer on Highway 63 on Sunday afternoon, the highway patrol says.

Mercedes Simmons, 29, was driving with Justin Dellis, 41, just south of Jacksonville in Randolph County when their SUV rear-ended a tractor-trailer driven by Tyler Callahan, 21, of Jacksonville. Callahan was slowing down to turn when the collision happened, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said in its report.

Simmons and Dellis were taken by ambulance to University Hospital. Two boys in the vehicle ages 2 and 5 had minor injuries and were also taken to the hospital.

Dellis was in good condition Monday, a University Hospital spokesperson said. Information about Simmons' condition was not available.
