Tracking light showers and some stubborn clouds

TODAY: It's a notably warmer start this morning, with temperatures largely starting in the 40s as opposed to yesterday's 30s. This is largely due to winds steadily from the south overnight. We have been clear through the night, but as daylight approaches, clouds will begin to develop. First, high clouds have us mostly sunny to partly cloudy, increasing through the morning. Then, into the afternoon, we'll become mostly cloudy as moisture builds ahead of a cold front. Temperatures will still climb into the low 70s, despite this added cloud cover. The front will bring chances for rain by around 4 p.m. in the northwest, and to Columbia and Jefferson City by 7 to 8 p.m. Rain should clear the area by midnight. Not much rain is expected. At most, the luckiest folks will see at most a tenth of an inch. Most of us will see closer to a trace if anything.

TONIGHT: Behind the cold front, we'll clear and drop temperatures into the 40s by Thursday morning. The clearing is temporary, though, as clouds are moving back in by sunrise, especially in the north. In fact, those in the far north near Macon and Moberly, may not clear much at all.

EXTENDED: Mostly cloudy skies, and possibly some drizzle around sunrise will lead to a mostly cloudy and dry day on Thursday. Expect highs in the 60s. With more sunshine, we're back in the 70s Friday and Saturday. An upper level shortwave will add clouds Sunday and Monday, but rain chances are low enough not to add to the forecast for now. Temperatures will hover near 70 until we warm a bit more into the mid-70s by Tuesday.
