Tracking a cold front to bring us a chilly weekend

TODAY: Thursday is another warm day, with sunshine, and a high expected in the low 80s. Winds will be breezy from the south, gusting in the 20-30 mph range.

TONIGHT: Skies stay clear until after midnight. It's not until about 3 a.m. that we start to see showers and storms develop as our low level winds begin to ramp up. These showers and storms will spread east into the early hours Friday morning. Storms will largely remain below severe thresholds, but if enough instability develops, we may materialize some strong to damaging winds on an isolated basis.

EXTENDED: Friday starts wet, but will end dry. Early showers and storms driven by south winds that keep us warm, will be followed by a final round of showers/storms along a cold front in the early afternoon. This round of storms may be strong to our north, but locally should remain sub-severe. It will mark the end of this warmth, though, and will kill our warm up, keeping highs forecast in the low 70s. Clouds fill in after a little sun on Friday afternoon. We'll likely be overcast and cool on Saturday, with highs in the 50s. We will be cool and dry this weekend, but we warm into the 60s early next week, and rain chances return by Wednesday.
