Tracking storms for northern parts of Mid-Missouri overnight, warmer tomorrow

TONIGHT: Increasing clouds with showers and storms possible north of the I-70 corridor overnight. Lows in the lower 50s.

TOMORROW: Scattered storms early for areas north of Highway 24, otherwise partly cloudy and windy with gusts up to 25 mph. Highs in the lower 80s.

EXTENDED: A warm front lifts in from the southwest overnight, triggering showers and storms north of I-70 through early Wednesday morning. Points south of Columbia stay dry, with lows in the low 50s. A few storms could bring brief heavy downpours or even some pea sized hail, but the better chance will be across northeast Missouri. Much of Wednesday is dry and breezy as winds pick up from the south up to 25 mph. Highs reach the low 80s both Wednesday and Thursday south of the front that will be centered just north of the Missouri-Iowa border. Showers and storms will move in with the associated cold front early Friday morning into the first part of the afternoon, leaving the northern half of the area with up to 0.5" of rain. Showers look to exit by or before Friday night, but clouds linger to start the weekend and we'll see cooler temperatures Friday afternoon in the upper 60s. The weekend is chilly with highs in the mid-upper 50s, and we can expect more sunshine and continued cooler air into next week.
