The Philippines aims at a younger generation of Filipino American travelers

The Philippines has a long history of trying to attract Filipino American citizens and their families to come and add to the economy. Most of those travelers have been retirees or immigrants catching up with relatives. Today, the country is aiming at a younger generation of professionals who live on TikTok and Instagram. A state-endorsed, eight-day tour in 2024 through the capital city, Manila, and the islands of Cebu and Coron is the latest being marketed to Filipino Americans. Unfamiliarity with the country and the Tagalog language has made many Filipino Americans shy away from the idea of visiting the Philippines. But now some are searching for a connection to their parents’ homeland.
