Tracking needed rainfall and much cooler air by the end of the week
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and comfortable with lows in the low to mid-60s.
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny with gradually increasing clouds by evening. Highs in the upper 80s to near 90.
EXTENDED: The steamy weather continues for another day as temperatures will be more than 10 degrees warmer than average overnight and likely 10-15 degrees warmer than normal again tomorrow afternoon as we reach the upper 80s. We'll be dry the entire day, but clouds start to increase late tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow night ahead of a cold front that will bring scattered showers overnight into Wednesday. Rain will be somewhat light during the day, but storms form along the front through the evening, especially for the southern half of Mid-Missouri where 0.5" to 1" of rain is possible. Showers linger for the eastern/southeastern portions of the area through midday Thursday, cooling temperatures into the mid-70s. A secondary front slides through by Friday, bringing a fall chill to the region as highs remain in the upper 60s on Friday afternoon with morning lows to kick off the weekend in the lower 40s. This weekend will be slightly cooler than typical for this time in October as temperatures fall into the low 60s for highs on Saturday and lows in the low 40s on Sunday morning. We'll gradually warm back to near or above average by the middle of next week.
