Boone County Commissioner Thompson says she’ll seek reelection
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Boone County commissioner with more than a decade in office will seek reelection this fall.
Northern District Commissioner Janet Thompson, a Democrat, said Sunday that she will try to secure a fourth term in the August primary and November general elections next year. Thompson was first elected to the office in 2012, winning reelection in 2016 and 2020.
Thompson joins Southern District Commission Justin Aldred in seeking reelection. Aldred was first elected in 2020.
The commission's three members are all Democrats. Presiding Commissioner Kip Kendrick was elected in 2022 and his seat will be up for election in 2026.
Thompson had more than $21,000 in campaign cash as of Sunday. Thompson and Aldred are the only commission candidates to have formed a campaign committee for the 2024 election.
