Weather Alert Day: Strong storms possible late Saturday afternoon into tonight
SETUP
A low pressure system has developed over the Plains and will slowly shift east through Saturday. An increasingly unstable atmosphere ahead of this will lead to the risk of severe storms into tonight for much of the Midwest.
TRACK
Storms may initially fire up to the west by 3 to 4 pm, carrying severe potential as these track through our northwest counties. The main line of storms more likely arrives from 6 pm to midnight, with all severe hazards possible. Heavy storms continue into early Sunday with severe potential dropping through the overnight.
IMPACTS
All severe hazards are possible today, including a few tornadoes in western Missouri. Our area will face the highest threat from winds and hail; 60+ mph gusts and 1" diameter hailstones are possible. Heavy downpours are also likely, though recent dryness will work against flooding impacts. 1 to 2 inches of rainfall are possible for most of the region.
