Tracking more rain chances into the weekend

THIS AFTERNOON: We'll hang on to some clouds today, but rain dodges us for the afternoon with temperatures in the low 80s.

TONIGHT: Isolated storms are possible as a front pushes into the area and some could be strong. These could move into areas near The Lake after midnight bringing heavy downpours and winds.

EXTENDED: Friday will see on-and-off chances for storms as a broad unstable airmass moves in. We are still likely mostly dry, with temperatures again reaching the 80s. Saturday stays warm ahead of a cold front, and instability increases, setting the stage for beneficial rain and perhaps even a few strong thunderstorms Saturday night into Sunday morning. Rain amounts will be in the 1-2" range. Showers are expected to taper off by Sunday night or earlier, leaving us cooler to start off next week with highs in the low to mid-70s for the first half of the week.
