Tracking drier Thursday, rain returns Friday into the weekend

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with a spot shower possible. Lows falling into the lower 60s under cloudy skies.

TOMORROW: Partly cloudy and warmer with highs in the upper 70s to around 80.

EXTENDED: The low pressure system responsible for today's light rain continues to work east, but cloud cover remains tonight along with a chance for an isolated shower or two into the morning. Lows fall into the lower 60s, but the afternoon is warmer tomorrow as highs top out near 80 with less cloud cover. Friday starts off mild in the mid-60s with a chance for a few storms near a frontal boundary draped over northern Missouri. Saturday is warm ahead of a cold front with temperatures rising into the upper 70s to lower 80s. Instability grows along with increasing dew points, setting the stage for beneficial rain and perhaps even a few strong thunderstorms Saturday night into Sunday morning. Rain amounts will be in the 1-2" range. Showers are expected to taper off by Sunday night or earlier, leaving us cooler to start off next week with highs in the low to mid-70s for the first half of the week.
