Tracking hit and miss rain chances through the weekend

TODAY: Tuesday offers plenty of dry time, especially in the morning. However, some isolated showers will arrive in the west, generally after the noon hour. These will spread east through the evening, but folks in Columbia, Jefferson City, and eastward communities shouldn't see any activity until around the dinner hour or later. Any showers will be light with weak moisture, and a lot of dry air for these showers to work through. Tuesday overall is mostly dry. Expect temperatures today to be warmer thanks to a warmer start, but also warmer air moving in with better south winds expected through the day. Highs will likely reach mid-80s.

TONIGHT: Temperatures will remain in the 60s overnight, with cloudy skies and continued south winds.

EXTENDED: Shower chances will linger overnight, but an upper level disturbance and better low level moisture increases rain chances on Wednesday. A rumble of thunder or two is possible, but severe weather is not expected. This keeps temperatures cool, in the mid-to-upper 70s on Wednesday. Our upper level disturbance is generally expected to leave by Thursday morning. This leaves Thursday a slim chance for rain due to some timing uncertainty, but an overall drier day. On Friday and Saturday we'll watch rain chances grow ahead of a more distinct trough of low pressure. This will bring a cold front through at some point over the weekend, but exact timing is still highly uncertain. The speed of this front will have a great impact on rain chances over the weekend and into Monday. Currently, our best chance for rain comes on Saturday, and tapers into Sunday, with drier conditions expected by Monday. Temperatures remain in the 70s through Monday.
