Tracking a week of rain chances with plenty of dry time

TODAY: Mostly clear skies at sunrise will leave us cool to start, with another chance for some fog near rivers, lakes, and other bodies of water. Skies stay clear, leaving us with enough sunshine to just get temperatures to near 80 again today.

TONIGHT: Temperatures tonight cool only into the low 60s. Winds from the south through the day, and increasing clouds at night, keep conditions warmer. These clouds will come along a warm front that will increase warmth on Tuesday.

EXTENDED: Temperatures reach mid-to-upper 80s on Tuesday, with slightly higher humidity. Chances for showers grow near the warm front Tuesday evening, as an upper level wave moves along it. Scattered showers will be possible Tuesday evening, but mostly well north of I-70. These chances for rain will linger into Wednesday, when they drift a bit further into mid-Missouri. Temperatures look to be capped in the 70s thanks to clouds and showers on Wednesday. Thursday should generally be a drier day as our upper level wave exits in favor of drier conditions. Temperatures from Thursday through the weekend remain fairly steadily in the upper 70s, but rain chances will grow Friday into the weekend. An upper level trough of low pressure will arrive over the weekend, likely bringing a surface front and better rain with it. This is where our best chance of rain will be, but chances are moderate on Saturday and Sunday as it's not yet clear which day the front will favor. A lot of dry time will be had, as most rain chances this week are hit and miss, with little rain expected. Our best chance for a meaningful rain will come this weekend. It's possible that we see more than 2 inches in some places over the next 7 days, with best chances for those higher amounts west of HWY 63.
