Cardinals offense falls flat, as Mikolas’ rough stretch continues
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Cardinal bats could not keep up with the Reds on Sunday afternoon, as Cincinnati took a 7-1 win to avoid getting swept by the red birds.
Andrew Knizer drove in the lone STL run on a single to center field, which plated Nolan Arenado. That single was also the only hit St. Louis registered through the entire game. On the other side, the Reds thoroughly out-hit the Cardinals, 10-1.
Miles Mikolas dropped to 7-11 in 2023, after giving up five earned runs on seven hits through five innings of work, on Sunday. The pitcher is 1-6 through his last nine starts with the Cardinals.
St. Louis has officially lost 80 games this season. It's the first time the club has hit the mark since 2007.
Up next - the Cardinals will continue the road trip up to Baltimore on Monday, Sept. 11. First pitch against the Orioles is slated for 5:35 p.m.
