Jefferson City man hurt in single-vehicle car crash Monday morning

CALLAWAY CO, MO. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City man was seriously hurt in a car crash involving one vehicle early Monday morning in Callaway County.

According to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Johnny Siebert, 29, was driving South on U.S. Route 63 just after midnight when he saw a deer on the left side of the road. The crash occurred when Siebert tried to avoid hitting the deer, but drove off the right side of the road in doing so.

His car then hit the ground and became airborne, traveling over Renz Farm Road.

Troopers say Siebert's car rotated clockwise in the air toward the driver's side, until it eventually hit the ground and ended up on the West side of Renz Farm Road. The car ultimately landed on Siebert's side of the car on its top.

He was taken to University Hospital with serious injuries.

According to the report, Siebert was wearing a seatbelt.
