45 Missouri Task Force One members heading to Florida ahead of Tropical Storm Idalia hitting Southeast

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Boone County Fire Protection District announced in a Monday press release that 45 members of Missouri Task Force One are heading to Florida.

Members are deploying to the Pensacola, Florida, at 6 p.m. Monday ahead of Tropical Storm Idalia hitting the coast, according to the release. Task Force teams from Texas and Tennessee are also being deployed to Florida.

Task Force teams from Virginia and Pennsylvania are heading to Orlando, while a team from Ohio is heading to Atlanta, Georgia, and Task Force teams from New Jersey and New York are going to Columbia, South Carolina, the release states.

The Associated Press reports that Idalia is expected to his the Southeast in the next few days and that it could be upgraded to a hurricane.
