Jefferson City Gerbes cleared Monday morning after bomb threat

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Police evacuated the Gerbes Superstore in Jefferson City on Monday after a bomb threat was phoned in.

Jefferson City Police Department officers were sent to the store in the 2100 block of Schothill Woods Drive after a person called the store saying a bomb had been planted inside the building, a JCPD news release says. Police and store management evacuated the building.

No explosives were found and investigators were told several other Gerbes stores in the region received similar threats.

"The preliminary investigation has determined there is no immediate threat to the community," the release says.

The Eldon Police Department said on social media that its officers also cleared a store there that received a bomb threat.
