Drinkwitz talks quarterback situation for week one; linebacker Chad Bailey ruled out
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou football coach Eli Drinkwitz opened up game week on Friday with a press conference talking about the quarterback situation and giving an injury report.
Drinkwitz announced that senior linebacker and captain Chad Bailey underwent surgery on Friday, meaning that he will be out for about 21 days.
"Disappointed for Chad, I know he's worked really hard to be a great leader," Drinkwitz said. "He's one of the best returning linebackers in the SEC, which puts you in some rare air in my opinion in all of college football."

In the meantime, the depth on defense will come in handy as multiple guys will step in to fill Bailey's absence.
"Dameon Wilson has done a really nice job. Chuck Hicks has done a really good job stepping up in his absence and we've been kind of in this mode all of fall camp so those guys have gotten majority of the reps."
The big story for week one continues to be the quarterback battle. Drinkwitz announced that Brady Cook and Sam Horn will both be taking snaps in the opener against South Dakota, but other than that not many details were revealed.
"I've already said that multiple quarterbacks are going to play. How we do that and what we do there is going to be information that we'll give and you can either buy a ticket and see it first hand or you can catch it on the feed, but I'm not going to preview it for anyone early," Drinkwitz said.
